According to the current ranking, Asante Kotoko and the Hearts of Oak are among the leading clubs in Africa out of one hundred and fifty clubs in Africa. The Results were provided by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) as from 2001-2010.

Asante Kotoko is in position eleven with 7365 points while Hearts of Oak is in position twenty-one with 5785 points. The Kumasi King Faisal, Obuasi Ashanti Gold SC, Liberty professionals, lower-tier clubs Berekum Arsenal, Kpando Heart of Lions and Real Tamale United (RTU) are the other Ghanaian teams that were recognized.

The statistics are based on the performances of the teams in African Competition and respective leagues within the period under review.
