Condom shortage hits the world due to coronavirus

by The Ghana HIT

Condom shortage has hit the world as Karex Bhd reduces operations because of coronavirus. Karex Bhd is the world’s biggest condom producer. The company supplies condoms to most of the companies in the world. Reports reaching our news desk indicate that Karex has closed down three of its factories because of coronavirus.

According to Goh Miah Kiat Karex Bhd’s CEO: “It’s challenging, but we are trying our best right now to do whatever we can. It is definitely a major concern, the condom is an essential medical device. While we are fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, there are also other serious issues that we need to look at.”

The shortage of condoms during lockdown may lead to a major crisis of unwanted pregnancies and the spread of STIs.
