Domestic Football is set to make a massive return since June 2018 with new sponsors.
According to reports, Ghana Premier League 2019/20 is all set to be sponsored by the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) and Ghana Gas. The joint sponsorship of GNPC and Ghana Gas has agreed to support the government with $2 million.
The Government wants a steady resumption of Ghana’s league as the election year is nearby. As football overshadows the media landscape, therefore, the return of the Ghana League will help relieve some pressure off the Government. At the moment, corporate Ghana is not ready to invest in Ghana Football; only the Government is willing to take this step.
The government has already initiated by sponsoring the Normalization Committees Special Competitions. The competition was divided into two tiers, Asante Kotoko was the champion of the premier tier.
The Ghana Football Association has already begun the player’s registration, and the Football Association, President Kurt Okraku has asked for the support and administration from President Akufo-Addo.
