The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) have disclosed that they are planning to increase the charges for their services. According to the association, the government have issued an order to the telecommunication companies to give 10% more from cash-out service wallet as tax.
“In total, on each network, every agent will be paying 20%tax on monthly basis. Initially, agents pay 5% on cash-in service wallet but it was secretly increased to 10% without our knowledge. We feel this is gross disregard to the procedure,” they stated in a press statement on Friday.
The association said that they operate under a lot of risks, such as fraud and insecurity, and this may result in huge losses. “Management is by this press informing all MoMo Agents to transfer the cost to the customers. We are advising our members to transfer the cost to those who seek our services,” they stated.
