Reports reaching our news desk indicate that the Mayor for Sekondi-Takoradi, Kobina Kurentsir Sam has died of COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Hospital. His death was confirmed by his personal assistant. This comes two weeks after his personal driver tested positive for the virus.
The driver was immediately isolated but the Mayor continued working. People repeatedly asked him to self-isolate.
At the moment Ghana has a total of 10,856 coronavirus cases. 3,921 people have so far recovered while 48 deaths have been accounted.
