An NDC MP, James Gyakye Quayson, has been eliminated from the list of those who will be sworn into the 8th government. Furthermore, he will not vote for the speaker of the incoming parliament. As a result of the high court ruling, the NDC is now remaining with 136 MPs-elect while the NPP has 137.
According to the New Patriotic Party, James Gyakye Quayson, still had the Citizenship of Canada while filing to compete for this seat. Up to date, the Assin-North MP owes allegiance to both Ghana and Canada. This is against Article 94(2)(a) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, and therefore this made him lose the seat.
