Yaw Boateng Gyan says NDC deserves a leader who can ‘use his brains’

by The Ghana HIT

The ex-National Organizer of NDC has discredited a publication that he is leading a campaign for the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, who wants to be the Flagbearer for NDC in 2024 elections. “If it is true, what’s wrong with it? If it is true that Dr. Duffor will contest for presidential Candidate and I am following him, what is wrong about that,” he questioned.

During an interview, Yaw Boateng said that John Mahama has not yet stated his plan to vie for the presidential position again. According to Yaw, it is not good for some NDC members to intentionally disturb other potential contestants from showing interest in the Presidential race, stating that the attitude of these individuals is undervaluing the flagbearer position.

Yaw said that Dr. Kwabena Duffuor had been a close friend to time, and they are still friends, and therefore he can’t betray him if he shows interest to vie for the presidential position. “I have seen the posters of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor on Social media, but I have not discussed anything with him regarding the presidential contest. Suppose he shows interest and says that he will contest the seat at the party. In that case, I will clap and celebrate it because when it comes to supporting the party financially at the grassroots, Dr. Diffuor has done a lot for the party, and H.E John Mahama can attest to this,” he noted.
Yaw Boateng insisted that “NDC needs a leader who can sit down and think of good governance and proper politics.

Governance is not about running a race and playing football, but it is about someone who can sit down and use his brain and use the youngsters around him to run an errand for him. They should stop playing the age card in politics because it will not help us. If Dr. Duffuor opens his mouth to say he will contest, I will be the first person to support him.”
