The international animal rights activist has requested President Nana Akufo-Addo to ban dog and cat meat in Ghana. “Dogs and cats are not food, but loyal companion animals that should be treated with kindness and respect, not brutalized and eaten,” Natasha Choolun noted. According to the animal rights activist, animal cruelty in Africa demotivates tourists from visiting and investing in these countries.

“The petition read, “The World Health Organization has confirmed that these global live animal markets must be closed, as they are the root of Covid-19 and are also a breeding ground for the spread of other fatal diseases. The brutal dog and cat meat trade is putting human health at risk from consumption of dogs and cats inform of Cholera, Rabis and other deadly diseases.”
“We urge you to ban the demonic dog and animal sacrifices and the barbaric dog and cat meat trade in Africa. Like many harmful and outdated practices in history, these barbaric animals’ sacrifices must also be abolished.” She requested the government to enforce laws to protect these animals from harm.
