143 casual workers laid off at Tamale Central Hospital

Tamale Central Hospital has laid off about 143 casual workers. The hospital said that the decision to lay off the workers was a result of the hard times caused by COVID19. The management of Tamale Central Hospital added that they are unable to collect enough revenue to pay salaries of all staff and that is why they decided to lay off the casual workers.

The affected staff came from three main departments which include cleaning, ward, and records. In Ghana, outpatient services are currently not be done because of the current lockdown. With hard economic times, more institutions are expected to continue laying off workers.
