The Peasant Famers Association has said that Ghana May experience food shortages in 2022. The Head of Programmes of the Association said that the food prices in Ghana are already high, and they may be worse next year.

“This year we have had serious challenges with fertilizers, especially in the Northern part of the country. You know, in the North, the land is not fertile, so if you farm without applying fertilizer, the likelihood of recording a very low yield is very high. I must admit that in the last few years, the government has been doing well with supplying fertilizer, but this year the situation has been worse. As a result, many farmers can’t get fertilizers to apply.”

He insisted that farmers are currently experiencing good weather conditions; however, the price of farm inputs is still high, and therefore, the output will culminate in an increase in food cost
