Kwaku Agyeman Manu has disclosed that Ghana’s Sputnik V contract with Dubai Sheik has been terminated. The minister stated that the termination was due to delays by the government in providing a letter of credit to the contractor.
According to the minister: “We are not just terminating the contract because, after the contract, they gave us two weeks to supply the first 300,000 doses of the vaccines that we have ordered based on the letters of credit we have given them as part of the terms of the agreement. But our letters of credit were delayed but got to them later.”
The government has been under pressure from the opposition regarding the purchase of Covid vaccines. NDC has stated that Ghana was using middlemen in the purchase of the vaccine.
