Final year SHS student skips exam to observe Sabbath

A final year SHS student skipped the WASSCE exam because it was taken on Saturday. According to the student whose name has been withheld, sitting the exams on Saturday is against his faith as an Adventist and therefore he opted not to sit the paper. He added that he was not the only one who avoided the paper and that there were other two students who did not take it too.

According to the SHS student: “Yes I did not write, It was Asante Twi and I refused to write the paper because I believe in my beliefs. My Church has beliefs and I’m sticking to it. Our Church petitioned the President but the petition was not agreed upon. For now, I can’t write Asante Twi and If I will have to write that paper it will be Nov/Dec.”
