IGP Assures Volta Region Adequate Security

While visiting the Volta Region as part of his nationwide tour, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. James Oppong Boanuh has assured the residents in the region that enough security will be deployed in preparation for the forthcoming general elections. His decision to deploy adequate security in the region come to a short while after some violent hotspots had been identified.

“Ghanaians should rest assure that we will provide security for Volta Region. You can trust the Ghana Police Service. The security agencies are ready and prepared to deal with any situation.
We appeal to all to help maintain peace throughout. All grievances must be rooted through authorized legal means,” stated Mr. Boanuh.

All through his tour which was anchored towards deploying adequate security in the Volta Region, the IGP called upon the residents to maintain peace within and even after the election period. Besides, he urged them to stay away from violence and instead report to the appropriate quarters any arising grievances. The IGP went ahead unveiling that the police service was working in partnership with other security bodies such as the military in a bid to deploy adequate security that will ensure rapid response in cases of violent situations.

The IGP also met the Police Service leadership in the region who assured him of a violence-free election.
