GRA Officers Shall not be receiving direct tax payments as of July 1.

The Ghana Revenue Authority has issued a notice that it won’t be accepting personal and Corporate cheques for tax payment and custom duties as of July 1, 2021. GRA aims at making revenue mobilization better and ensuring convenient payment for taxpayers through a cashless operation system.

“Existing cheques that have already been received for the payment of Duties and Taxes shall continue to be presented to the Banks. No new cheques shall be received after July 1, 2020,” the authority stated.

GRA said that in case it’s a must cheque to be presented for payments, a bank guarantee should support such cheques. “Effective July 1, 2021, all payments for Taxes and Duties shall be made directly to GRA Accounts with the various Banks through the various means such as cash, Bank drafts, Bank transfers, ACH, swift, cards, Momo and other electronic means,” the general commissioner for GRA said.
