Eliud Kipchoge is the third runner in history to win consecutive Olympics marathon gold. The Kenyan Runner secured the title within 2 hours 8minutes 38 Seconds on the last day of Tokyo 2020 Games. After 30-kilometers, Kipchoge made a decision to break the leading pack and create an incontrovertible gap. Within 5 Kilometers, Eliud was 27 seconds ahead of the racing group.

Speaking to BBC Sports Kipchoge said, “I think I have fulfilled the legacy by winning the marathon for the second time, back-to-back. I hope now to help inspire the next generation. I am happy to defend my title and to show the next generation, if you respect the sport and be disciplined you can accomplish your assignment.” Kipchoge is Globally considered the greatest marathoner.
