Approximately 32,000 households are expected to benefit in June and December of this year from the installation of two solar plants in the Upper West region.
When finished, the plant will not only expand the regional reach of the country’s power supply but will also help people escape the projected 7,400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year, rendering Ghana a safer place to live in.
President Akufo- Addo said this reaffirmed the government’s determination to diversify the country’s portfolio of energy generation and thus helped increase the energy mix’s renewable energy portion and lead to mitigating the effects of climate change.
The 17-megawatt plant, funded by the Development Bank (KfW) of the German Government at the expense of € 22.8 million, reiterates the commitment of governments to raise the component of renewable energy in Ghana.
