On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, in collaboration with private waste management company Zoomlion Ghana Limited, begun fumigating some 109 senior high, special schools and 3,680 basic schools in the Greater Accra Region.

This forms part of the countrywide fumigation exercise of all schools in the whole country to prepare for reopening on 5th October 2020.

Accra Academy, Wesley Grammar, Achimota SHS are among the fumigated schools.

Speaking to the media, Mr Ernest Morgan Acquah, the Accra Zone General Manager of Zoomlion, insisted that there is a need for this round of the fumigation exercise because the final-year students used the classrooms.

Besides, he said that the fumigation exercise has been of great help as far as the fight against Covid-19 is concerned.

The Deputy Head of local matters for Accra Academy, director of Wesley Grammar SHS, and Deputy Headmaster of Administration for Achimota SHS, also spoke to the media and expressed their happiness over the fumigation exercise that has been done in their schools, saying it was the best move before the reopening.
