The Government is planning to withdraw US$1 billion in SDR allocation to fund the Economy.

The minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta has revealed that the Government is planning to withdraw the whole amount (US$1 billion) of Standard Drawing Rights (SDR). The amount was assigned by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to support the recovery of the Ghanaian economy. The SDR was introduced for all nationals globally. It is an emergency response program to the International recession.

According to Ken Ofori-Atta, the money will support the critical sectors of the economy in order to accelerate the growth of the areas. He said that the government is also planning to allocate some funds towards its resolute Ghana CARES Programme. Besides, the money will be assigned to the digitization and mobilization of Ghana lineups.
