Ghana Film Industry to Get a Brand Name Soon, Film Authority Discloses

by The Ghana HIT

The National Film Authority (NFA) has revealed that the Ghana Film Industry will soon get a brand name. The disclosure follows the formation of a committee by the Authority tasked with the sole responsibility of coming up with a brand name. NFA arrived at the decision in a bid to bring to an end attempts by other stakeholders who had started giving the industry names such as Ghallywood and Gollywood among other names.

During the announcement, NFA further unveiled that it sought name suggestions for the Ghana Film Industry from the general public prior to the formation of the committee. “Over 400 submissions were received by the NFA… We are privileged to have the committee committed to narrowing down on the submitted names and eventually select a brand name to help promote the Ghana Film Industry”. The Authority revealed.

The committee members tasked with giving the Ghana Film Industry a brand name include, Frank Fiifi Gharbin (film director), Abeiku Sagoe (Actor), Kofi Kyei (filmmaker), Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo (Associate Professor – Department of Communication Studies, University of Ghana), Ms. Laurene Maana Abdallah (filmmaker), and Mr. Kwabena Agyekum (Executive Director of Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana) among others.
